Handsome

Happy spring day! Today I am here to share with you my first layout for Simple Stories. For this layout I used the Documented line.

I took some of my favorite pieces of paper from the line and placed strips of each at a diagonal and then stitched them all together, I'm really happy with the way that it turned out.

For my title work I used some of the alpha stickers from Documented Expression Cardstock Stickers (I LOVE the polka dots!) and then made a little banner for some added dimension.

The stars and the
'perfect' label came from the Fundamental Cardstock Stickers.

My Mind's Eye Challenge

I was so excited to see the new challenge that was posted on the My mind's Eye blog this month. It was all about the hexagon, something many of us have been enjoying using as of late! Their Follow Your Heart collection was the perfect choice for this too!

My base page is actually from their Miss Caroline line, the rest is from the 6x6 Follow Your Heart paper pad.

I misted over a cut out heart with Mr. Huey's to get the faint heart on my background.
Then I put my Cameo to use to cut out the vellum and paper butterflies, and the word 'beauty'.
The word 'true' was done with Papertrey Ink dies.

I love the subtle butterflies, however they kind of faded into the soft colors of the layout, so I inked the edges up a bit and added some glitter to them to help them stand out a bit.

Hand stitched a double line around the layout to help tie it all together.

While I had things scattered around my desk I went ahead and made a few cards with the remains.

This one was for a sketch challenge on 2 Peas last week.

A couple of cards for Mother's Day.

Thanks for taking a peek!

At the hop

Glad to be back here on the old blog. Took some time off due to illness, spring break, and vacation recovery ;).

Today I have a layout from Clear Scraps to share with you. This layout was from a cross promotion week that we did with Pink Paislee. I was sent the Spring Jubilee line to work with. Fun colors and it was perfect for these photos of two of my kiddos. I took these pictures as were headed to the school sock hop.

I outlined the XL Deco Shape from Clear SCraps with a yellow paint pen. The yellow background was cut using my Silhouette.

Oh, and thanks Tina for the poodle skirt...I think we'll even get a couple more years out of it!

I love to make both cards and layouts so I chose to submit two of each.

Layout #2: Her and him means giggles...always (I combined this one with a Clear Scraps assignment, so I used an XL Clear Scraps acrylic shape for the base).

Card #1: Good Luck

Card #2: Cute as a button

What a fun year this is going to be!!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me share!

Enjoy your day,

Home is where the heart is....

I’m super excited to share a fun new digital/paper crafting kit with you today!

One of my online scrappy friends, Shanna Vineyard, has combined her love of hand-drawing and painting mixed with her fondness of bright, happy colors to bring us a kit that is different than anything you’ve ever seen!   In celebration of her relocating back home to Arizona next week, she was inspired to create this kit, “Home Is Where the Heart Is” that includes over 50 different hand-drawn and painted images.  They can be used in your digital projects or can be easily resized and printed to cut out and use with your traditional scrapbooking and card making creations.  The possibilities are endless and you will have them to use over and over again as much as you like for as many projects as you wish!  So FUN!!!

Here’s what I made using her kit…..

and another card....

Super cute and super easy to use! I kept my cards super simple for those of you that are digital shy. Just print up which ever pieces you want to use cut them out and you have some of the most adorable embellishments, images, and sentiments for your paper crafting project!

Hope...

We all know how different one child can be from the next. I have one, my second oldest son, who is the quieter one. THe one who is fine taking the backseat to all of the others. If there are 3 blue things and one red thing and all four of my kids want blue, he is always the one to pipe up and say "I'll take the red one". As a parent that sometimes worry me. Sure it makes my life a lot easier in many situations, but I don't want myself or anyone else taking advantage of that. This layout is for him... from me.

This was a layout that I did for Clear Scraps. Which may lead some of you to wonder "where's the acrylic?." Well, the word Hope was created using a Clear Scraps acrylic word. I just kept the protective plastic on it and then used it as a mask for some misting. Then I just outlined the word with some paper piercing.

The rest of the supplies came from a Studio Calico kit.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek today!

Late to the party...

So, decided at the last minute to jump on the Project Life bandwagon. I started a wee bit late and am now trying to play catch up. For those of you who aren't familiar with PL, it is a way to document your life throughout the year. I am doing mine as a week by week. If you are interested in reading about PL and what all it entails you can click above on the link.

I opted to just buy the page protectors and then to use my own stash for all of the rest of it, I just couldn't see buying the premade product when I have so much stuff of my own already and it just isn't that difficult to cut 3x4" and 5x7" pieces of paper.

As I said I'm a little bit behind...today I'm sharing with you the opening page and then week 1 and week 2. This album will be just for me, there are no requirements. There are some things in my possession that have long been neglected due to some other commitments. Since this isn't fulfilling any assignments or commitments I'm just going to be using whatever strikes my fancy! FUN! It's been a while since I've done that.

Opening page:

a close up of the hand stitching...

Week 1
Lazy Sunday mornings, ski lessons, and a miserably sick kiddo.
(Lily Bee Head Over Heels Paper)

Week 2
New Barbie pool and making a first basket ever in a basketball game.

That's it for me today....ciao!!!
