Case Study Challenge #142

Hi all! Hope that you had a great 3 day weekend. We went out of town and I had a little bit of down time. I was in the mood to make a card that I didn't have to put a whole lot of thought into. When I feel like this I will often turn to a sketch or a challenge blog. The hard part of the work (at least for me) is already done.

This weekend I turned to the CASE Study challenge blog, their current challenge is #142

The above card is the inspiration piece by Maile Belles.

Here is what I made based on the above card...

I opted to stray from the large flower because I had this sentiment stamp that I really wanted to use.

Products: Stamps-Papertrey Ink
Ink- Papertrey Ink, Ranger Distress
Dies: Papertrey Ink, Spellbinders
Paper-My Mind's Eye, Papertrey Ink

American Crafts

Hi all! Though I would pop in today share with you my projects from my guest designer gig. In April I was contacted by American Crafts, they asked if I would be interested in being their guest designer in May. I was asked to make three layouts, a card, and an altered project using only what they sent me in the box. EVERYTHING had to feature flowers. In some respects this was a super easy task and in others I had to really put my creativity to work! I always enjoy a good challenge!

Here is what I came up with...

The layouts...

The card...

The altered item...

Thank you so much American Crafts for having me, it was truly a delight for me!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and a special thank you to all of our veterans and service men/ladies!

Pinspiration

Last week on the My Mind's Eye blog some of the designers were asked to choose a project from the MME Pinterest Inspiration board.

HERE is the layout that I chose to work off of.  I used Melissa's clean and simple layout basically as a sketch and then just added a few things here and there.

The above picture shows the little tiny die cut stars that I added to the stitched vapor trail of my rocket. It also shows how I backed my cutout title work with glitter.

I used a glitter pen to outline three of the stars on the background page to add a little bit more visual interest.

All products for this layout (minus the glitter and glitter pen) are from the Boy Crazy line.

Thanks for stopping by!

Speechless

Yes, I admittedly was a little bit at a loss for words when I opened an email from Paige Evans. Getting an email from her isn't all that rare as I am fortunate to have some success with getting projects picked up for the Northridge Publishings magazines. However, this email was of a different nature. Something that I NEVER would have expected to see. She had on her American Crafts hat when she sent this email asking me if I would be their guest designer this month!!!!

So head on over to the American Crafts blog and check it out....just click below...

Here's a little peek of one of my projects...it is flower week over there, so all of my projects had to feature flowers!

Thanks Paige and American Crafts, it truly was such an honor!

Color Inspiration

Good Thursday morning to you all. Today I am sharing with you my first project as an official design team member of My Mind's Eye. We were presented with this color challenge and had to base our layout on this photo...

Such great colors! Right up my ally I tell you! Here's the layout that I created...

I used a mix of The Sweetest Thing (Tangerine, Bluebell and Lavendar), Collectable (Memorable), and the brand new Spread Your Wings and Fly (Up and Away).

I inked the edges of the butterfly wings to make them pop a bit.

Chipboard buttons, enamel dots and a heart stick pin for the body/antenna.

I just adore how well three completely different collection went together like they were meant for each other.

Card Share

Hi everyone! Thought I'd share with you my latest creations for Simple Stories.

I was on a roll making cards and ended up making three for this assignment. My first two cards feature the Sn@p line and the brand new stamps that Simple Stories just released.

For  this card I focused on the Daily stamp set. Pulled out my chalk inks ( I found that chalk ink vs. dye or pigment ink worked best with these solid images), masked off a heart shape and stamped all of the speech bubbles inside the negative space. The today arrow was stamped onto vellum and a small chipboard heart and yellow brad topped it all off.

For my second card I focused on using the Snapshots stamp set.

I repeatedly stamped the open speech bubble onto cardstock using a white pigment ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Next, I used Distress Inks to blend color onto the card stock.

For my last card I had been dying to put the brand new brads to use, so I pulled out the  24/Seven collection. I made a faux ribbon border using some washi tape and then used brads in descending size as my focal point.

Loving how versatile the Simple Stories collections are!
