Hi all! Hope you are having a great weekend! The four males in our household are off having adventures in North Dakota so my daughter and I have been enjoying a week of silence and fun girly things! Lots of crafting happening. I thought I would participate in this weeks Make It Monday over on the Papertrey Ink blog.
This weeks theme was all about stamping on embossed images...

Products: PTI- Just Smile stamp set. Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold
          Inks, Polka Dot Impression Plate.

Thanks for taking a peek today! Enjoy the rest if your weekend!

Paradise found

Yep, that's pretty much sums up our spring break trip to Turks & Caicos. It was heavenly. We stayed at the Beaches resort because let's face it, it's the only way we can afford to feed four children (three of which are strapping young "men") on vacation. The all inclusive thing was perfect for us!

The following are two layouts that I created for My Mind's Eye using some photos from this vacation. This first one is one of my latest favorites.

I designed and cut the wave shape with the Silhouette, then I used different pieces of patterned paper that were cut into strips to fill in behind the wave shape. The title and sun were also cut from the Silhouette. (Someday the super nice random person that comes along and offers to take our family photo won't cut us all off at our ankles…until then we will just be super happy to have a family photo albeit with various missing body parts :)  )

So, after I had used the above wave shaped page I had layer the negative shape on my desk next to me and later on when I noticed it sitting there the thought came to mind that it would make a great lizard tail, all I needed to do was turn it upside down! Guess what?! I had a bunch of iguana photos from the trip…the perfect match!

For the spines on the tail I used the new glitter and metallic tapes from the Necessities collection.

Both of these layouts were made using the Now and Then - Izzy line.

Until next time!

Jumping for Joy!

Happy hump day! We only have a week and a half of school left here and then it's time for the lake! I can NOT wait!

Today I have another My Mind's Eye project to share with you. This one features three of my crazy kids and the Cut & Paste-Charm collection.

I started by creating a mask with the Silhouette machine and then sprayed the sun with Mr. Huey's mist starting with a yellow the outer edges and an orange in the center.

I wanted the word "jumping" to stand out a bit more so I lined around it with a silver pen.

In the above two photos you can see a trace of how I embellished the sun rays with a strip of patterned paper stitched down the center of each one.

Hope you all find your own little piece of joy worth jumping for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day Cards Part 2

Hey all, thought I would FINALLY come and post the second half of the mother's day cards that I made this year for family. Didn't plan on it taking this long, but sometimes life is going at a rapid and busy pace and before I know it weeks or months have passed.

Both of these cards started with the Botanical Blooms stamps set from Papertrey Ink.

I heat embossed the images onto watercolor paper and then painted them in with water colors.

First the rose...

Then the sunflower...

Background paper on both of these is from an older My Mind's Eye line - Hazel and Ruby (my most favorite line EVER!!!)

I simply finished them off by drawing a black line around the images to help them stand out a bit more, and added a little sprinkling of sequins.

Hope to see you back here soon, I really do have so many projects left to share!
