Sparkle & Shine Challenge #4

Happy Wednesday! It's the 15th of the month which means that it is time for another challenge over on the Sparkle & Shine challenge blog. For this one the team had the pleasure of working with this sketch as our inspiration piece...

It's pretty rare for me to follow a sketch precisely as it is, but that is exactly what I did with this one! Makes putting it all together a speedy process.

For this card I used a Winnie and Walter stamp set called "The Party". I started by watercoloring a strip of watercolor paper with bright pinks and blues (which blended together to form some purple). After it dried I used the confetti stamp in the set and stamped it repeatedly, then I colored in a few randomly with some glitter pens.  For the second strip of paper I opted to cover it with some smaller pink sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  For the sentiment panel I stamped the balloons and painted them in with some watercolors.

We'd love for you to join us in this challenge. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Winnie and Walter!!!!

Click HERE to go to the challenge site and see what the rest of the team has created and to link up your project!

Oh, and that blue dotted background cardstock is some of the new Mini Dot cardstock from My Mind's Eye...I am in love with that stuff!!!

Celebrate

Happy Tuesday! Have a birthday card to share with you today. It features the cutest little cupcake!

This on started with a quick wash of watercolor on the base panel. After that dried I simply layered to frame and sentiment banner. The cupcake was colored with Copics.

I added a layer of shimmer over the top of the cupcake with a Wink Of Stella pen. Lastly, I embellished with a few sequins and a tiny little jewel at the center of the bow.

Supplies:

Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Baker's Dozen)
Dies: Papertrey Ink (Baker's Dozen)
Inks: Ranger Distress (Evergreen Bough, Broken China)

Thanks for taking a look.

Hello

Hey all. Hope you all are having a great week. For this household, this week has meant the true start of the baseball season. Games and practices are in full swing, which means chaos is back in full swing. Since baseball signifies spring I thought I would share a card with you that kind of screams spring!

I made this one for the latest challenge over on the Card Concept Challenge blog. My goal was to keep this one classy and elegant.

I started this card by die cutting the flowers out of watercolor paper. Then I simply watercolored in the die cuts.

For the sentiment I die cut the 'hello' from the frame, took the word out and watercolored it with the aqua and green, then once it dried colored over it with a Wink of Stella glitter pen. Then simply inlaid the word back in. That sentiment frame with the addition of the hello word is made up of so many die cut little pieces that I found it easiest to back the whole thing with a wide piece of Washi tape.

If you click HERE you will be taken directly to the image that was the inspiration piece for this challenge. You can see that I incorporated the florals and colors from it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Be Happy)
Dies: Papertrey Ink (Brushed Blooms, Keep it Simple Frames, Noted)
Sequins: Studio Calico

Thanks for taking a peek today!

Sparkle & Shine Challenge #3

Hey everyone! It's the first of the month which means that it is time for another challenge over on the Sparkle & Shine Challenge blog. The first challenge this month uses this photo as an inspiration piece...

What a cute idea huh?! Love those Peeps around the edge peeking through the glass.  This is the card that I came up with...

I started by smooshing multiple colors of Distress Ink onto a panel of watercolor paper. Then I die cut and stamped the sun. Once that was done I lightly traced the inner edges of the rays onto my background. That provided me with a "guideline" of where to place the sequins. Once I had all of the sequins in place then I adhered the sun with some foam tape to pop it up a bit.

The colors on this next photo are off because I ended up taking this photo indoors at night, but what I wanted you all to see was the shimmer on the word 'smiling'. After I die cut the letters out of white card stock then I colored them with Copic markers and a Wink of Stella glitter pen.

Make sure that you check out the Sparkle & Shine challenge blog HERE, we'd love to have you participate!
